According to the Texas Employment Report the Texas job market is doing great. In their June 2022 Summary, the Texas Real Estate Research Center reported an increase in jobs of around 0.62% over the number of jobs added in May. The addition of 82,500 jobs over the month brought the unemployment rate down to 4.1%, another point drop from the previous month and a steady fall from 4.8% in January of this year.

Texas Workforce Commission Chairman, Bryan Daniel reports:

“Texas continues to set records for employment growth with more than 250,000 jobs added from the beginning of this year through May.”

Not only are jobs increasing, the Texas labor force is also growing. The number of job openings decreased by nearly 28,000 and the labor force expanded by nearly 40,000. The RE Center further reported that most of the new jobs were in the healthcare industry, noting that their efforts hold the bulk of the responsibility for bring the employment level down to what it was before the pandemic.
