Taurus Investment Holdings has got big plans for east Austin, Texas. Douglas Gilliland, Managing Director for the private development company, hopes to convert 600-acres into a grand scale park he has dubbed the “Zilker Park of east Austin”. Zilker, the city’s biggest park, is host to a number of large-scale events, including the Austin City Limits Music Festival.
KXAN Austin’s Dylan McKim reported that the area stretching toward Walter E. Long Park from East Metropolitan Park will soon be undergoing an eight-million-dollar makeover. The project is expected to be created in one-year phases over the next six to seven years.
The park will connect to Travis County’s fourteen miles of public trails with a 12-foot-wide paved trail and multiple other paths that intersect throughout. Serving the area next to the sustainability-focused community, Whisper Valley, people will have easy access to picnic areas and a new open-air amphitheater.
Gilliland told KXAN that the park will be given to the city upon completion. Read the full story at this link.
